Manufacturing a Secret
"I know more, but I won't say" — the value of what's hidden
Information that's being hidden from you seems more valuable than anything out in the open. The "manufacturing a secret" technique: you hint that you hold something important, but "now's not the time." The void the listener fills in himself — his imagination always makes it scarier and more significant than any concrete fact.
"I know something about [the subject]. But not here and not now. Whoever's ready — they'll get it."
Conspirator — weak cards, but:
I won't talk in front of everyone. I'll say only this: I'm the only one who's worked out why this exact catastrophe, and why right now. And who's behind it. To those who stay with me, I'll explain. The rest — good luck figuring it out yourselves, when it's too late.
Not a single fact. Only the promise of a fact. And just like that, half the bunker wants to "stay with him."

- Sales"We don't really advertise this batch. Only insiders get it" (scarcity of knowledge).
- RelationshipsA loaded "we need to talk… later" — and the person is tied in knots.
Trigger: A hint at valuable information without the information itself, always deferred to "later."
Counter: "Either you say it now, or it's empty words. I don't make decisions based on hints."
A secret that someone refuses to reveal under a direct question is usually empty.
The most powerful thing I've got is the pause before the words "I know something." After that, the person invents a threat scarier than anything I could have spelled out. I just stay meaningfully silent. For free.
